Therapy & Counseling Services in Frisco
You don't have to keep pushing through on your own. Whether your relationship needs attention, your stress has become unmanageable, or you're ready to break free from patterns that have followed you for years, therapy offers a path forward. I'm Dr. Lori Runge, a licensed marriage and family therapist with a PhD, and my office is right here in Frisco.
Hi, I'm Dr. Lori Runge - Your Frisco Therapist
My practice is based in Frisco because this is my community. I work with individuals and couples who live, work, and raise families here, and I understand the pace of life in this part of North Texas. Before becoming a therapist, I spent twenty years in corporate leadership as a Senior Vice President and worked in a family-owned business. I'm also Gottman Method trained (Level I & II certified), bringing decades of relationship research into my work with couples. That background gives me a perspective most therapists simply don't have. I get the pressures of ambitious careers, the complexity of family dynamics, and the toll it takes when your inner world doesn't match the life you're presenting to the outside. My approach is grounded in mindfulness: helping you see your patterns clearly so you can choose something different.
Conveniently Located in Frisco
My office is at 5300 Town and Country Blvd, Suite 240, in Frisco, easily accessible from the Dallas North Tollway, Lebanon Road, or US-75. Whether you're coming from Stonebriar, Newman Village, Phillips Creek, or the Frisco Square area, you're just minutes away. I also offer secure online therapy for clients who prefer virtual sessions. In-person and online appointments are available, with evening hours Monday through Wednesday.
How Therapy Helps Frisco Individuals & Couples
-
When Success Isn't Enough
From the outside, your life looks great. Good career, nice home, active social calendar. But inside, there's a restlessness you can't explain, or a sadness that doesn't match the circumstances. Many of my Frisco clients describe this disconnect between how things look and how things feel. Therapy helps you get honest about what's missing and create space for the life you actually want, not just the one that looks right on paper.
-
Communication That's Become a Minefield
Every conversation turns into a disagreement. Or worse, you've both stopped bringing things up because it's not worth the fight. When communication breaks down in a relationship, everything else suffers: intimacy, trust, the feeling that you're on the same team. I help Frisco couples learn how to talk to each other again, not just about logistics but about the things that matter. Mindfulness-based couples therapy teaches you to listen without defending and speak without attacking.
-
Stress That's Taken Over
You used to handle pressure well. Now it follows you everywhere: into your sleep, your weekends, your conversations with the people you love. Chronic stress rewires the way you think and react, and willpower alone won't fix it. Together, we'll identify what's fueling the cycle and build sustainable practices that help you feel grounded again instead of constantly running on empty.
-
Family Patterns You're Tired of Repeating
You swore you'd never sound like your mother. Or shut down the way your father did. But somehow, those patterns keep showing up in your relationships and your parenting. Family of origin work helps you understand where these patterns come from so you can consciously choose a different path. You don't have to stay stuck in cycles that were never yours to begin with.
What Makes Mindfulness-Based Therapy Different
Most of us go through our days reacting: to stress, to our partner, to the voice in our head that says we're not doing enough. Mindfulness-based therapy helps you create a small but powerful gap between what happens to you and how you respond. In that gap, you find freedom to communicate without reacting, to let go of thoughts that don't serve you, and to be present in your life instead of constantly managing it.
I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to provide guidance and practical tools that help you uncover what's already strong in you.

Most clients start with weekly sessions. As progress builds, some transition to biweekly. We'll find a rhythm that works for your goals and schedule.

That's very common. You can absolutely start with individual sessions focused on your relationship. The changes you make on your own often create a shift in the dynamic at home. Some partners decide to join later, and some don't need to.

Yes. I have evening availability Monday through Wednesday and limited weekend hours. This makes it easier for working professionals to fit therapy into their schedule without disrupting the workday.

Research consistently shows that online therapy is as effective as in-person for most concerns, including couples work. Many of my Frisco clients use both options depending on their week. The quality of the session doesn't change based on the format.
