My Approach To Couples & Relationships

I believe that my couples are the experts in their lives and what I provide is objective guidance for them to uncover their strengths and gifts, enabling them to live their best life.

Practicing Mindfulness and Communication in Relationships

Having passion and friendship in your romantic relationship is not only possible; it is necessary to build a stronger and loving partnership. No matter your current communication pattern, there are ways to create different patterns where each person feels heard and supported. Communication in relationships starts with shifting the blame game patterns and getting to the root of what is hurting both of you. There will always be disagreements; but how we handle them makes a difference that allows us to grow closer.

What I Can Help With Through Couples & Marriage Counseling

  • Life Transitions

We have a choice as how to adjust and evolve with the inevitable life transitions. It is my privilege to walk beside you and your spouse to untangle and navigate the challenges life transitions can bring.

  • Stress and Anxiety

Feeling chronically stressed takes a toll on your mind, body, soul and relationships. Together we will devise a plan to give you and your spouse the tools to choose clarity and calmness over stress and anxiety.

  • Couple Communication Issues

Communication issues are common in all relationships. The difference in committed relationships is that we seem to think the other person can read our minds. Together we will cultivate a new way of communicating that does not include mindreading!

  • Couples Infidelity

Infidelity is not the sign that someone does not love you normally; it is a poor attempt at not addressing the problems within the marriage or relationship. While this is one of the most painful experiences a couple can go through, it is also an opportunity to build an even stronger, more authentic relationship with your partner.

  • Strained Relationships

As human beings, we are hardwired to connect and whenever an important relationship is strained, it is an unpleasant and disruptive occurrence in our lives. Together we will untangle what is at the core of the disruption and create a plan to repair and strengthen the relationship.

  • Family of Origin Issues

Our family of origin can be where we find our strength and resilience, a haven to restore ourselves, or it can also be the place that causes us the most pain. Learning how our family system worked, the roles, rules, and patterns that were spoken and unspoken help us understand ourselves and give us choices to respond and shift the patterns in our lives and relationships today.

What To Expect From Couples Therapy

  • Just as every individual is different, every couple has their own unique history. Therapy is geared towards your goals and what you want the outcome to be. You are the experts in your relationship. I am simply the guide to help you reach your goals.

  • You decide as a couple when you feel you are done with therapy; but it is dependent on the presenting challenge in your relationship. Many of my clients see me for 8-12 sessions and others may have more to untangle so their time with me lasts longer. Again, it is always up to the couple as to when they feel they have accomplished their goals.

  • My goal as your coach or therapist is to give you tools and techniques so that you can navigate the stress of daily life with ease. Staying present and focused on living your best life NOW.
